What does selling in Amazon's US store involve?

Selling in Amazon's US store means listing your products to US buyers on amazon.com through a seller account. The seller opens the account; Amazon verifies the identity, bank and tax details and approves it. When you apply with a US company, the business details on the seller account are your company's details.

Amazon's seller pages explain the plans, fees and registration steps in detail. Here we summarise only what the official pages say; Amazon sets the terms and can change them. For the broader question of what a US company changes, our US company FAQ is a good start.

Which selling plans does Amazon offer?

Amazon's US store has two selling plans: the Individual plan charges per item sold, and the Professional plan charges a fixed monthly fee. According to Amazon's pricing page, the Professional plan is $39.99 a month and the Individual plan is $0.99 per item sold. Selling fees are added on top.

Amazon's selling pricing page (accessed 12 October 2026) lists both plans and the additional fees, with links to referral and fulfilment fees by category.

What do you prepare for Amazon seller registration?

Amazon publishes a checklist to prepare before registering: a government-issued ID, an email address, an internationally chargeable credit card, a bank account and routing number, a business licence or registration, a recent proof of residential address and tax information. Gathering everything first keeps the application orderly.

Amazon's seller registration guide (accessed 12 October 2026) gives this list and examples of accepted proof of address, such as a bank or credit card statement. For a US company, the "business registration" item is the company's formation document.

What does a US company change for Amazon sales?

Amazon says sellers can sell from many countries. A US company lets you run US-store sales in the company's name: the business details, bank account and tax details on the seller account belong to your company, which keeps accounting and contracts in one place.

With our LLC formation service, we form your company; the state approves the formation. Our Wyoming LLC guide helps you weigh the state choice. You open the seller account yourself; Amazon verifies and approves it. LaunchUS does not apply to Amazon for you.

Why does the EIN matter for an Amazon application?

The EIN is the federal tax ID the IRS issues to companies. Amazon asks for tax information during registration, and for a US company that is the company's EIN; banks usually ask for it too. We get your EIN; the IRS issues the number, and the confirmation letter arrives in your vault.

The IRS EIN page (accessed 12 October 2026) says an EIN is free from the IRS and lists the routes for applicants based outside the US. Our EIN service page shows how it works without an SSN. Decide the tax classification on forms with your tax adviser.

What should you know about addresses?

Amazon asks you to prove your residential address. The LaunchUS Registered Agent address is for receiving official state mail. It is not a general business address or a verification address, so do not use it as a verification address with Amazon.

Our Registered Agent service receives, scans and files that mail in your vault.

Step by step: preparing to sell on Amazon with a US company

This sequence shows who does what when you apply to Amazon's US store with a US company. Amazon's document list can change, so read the official registration guide at each step. Each step names who does the work and who makes the decision, so it is clear which steps are yours and which are ours.

  1. We form your company. You enter your details, we file, the state approves.
  2. We get your EIN. We prepare Form SS-4, you sign, the IRS issues the number.
  3. You apply for a bank account. The bank and routing number on Amazon's list come from it; the bank decides.
  4. You gather the documents. ID, credit card, proof of address, formation document and EIN letter.
  5. You open the seller account. You pick a plan, enter the details and complete verification; Amazon approves.
  6. You settle tax questions with an adviser. Sales tax and income tax outcomes depend on your situation.

How payments reach a US bank account is covered in getting paid by US clients over ACH. If you sell handmade or digital goods, see selling on Etsy and Shopify with a US company. LaunchUS does not give tax or legal advice; see pricing for what each plan covers.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a US company to sell on Amazon US?

Amazon says it accepts sellers from many countries. Treat a US company as an option for running sales in your company's name, not as a requirement. Amazon decides who can open an account with which details.

Should I choose the Individual or the Professional plan?

According to Amazon's pricing page, the Individual plan charges per item sold and the Professional plan a fixed monthly fee. The choice depends on your volume and is yours to make. Fees can change; current amounts are on the official page.

Which documents does Amazon registration need?

Amazon's registration guide lists ID, email, an internationally chargeable credit card, a bank account and routing number, business registration, recent proof of address and tax information. Your formation document and EIN letter are in your vault.

Can I give Amazon the Registered Agent address?

No. The Registered Agent address receives official state mail; it is not a general business address or a verification address. Amazon's proof of address must be for your residential address.
